5 Things to Do Before Your Scrap Car Removal in Langley

When it comes to the choice to repair or scrap your old vehicle, sometimes it makes more sense to take the cash and have the car removed. The cost of repairs can be shocking, especially if it’s an older vehicle with outdated parts. So, rather than make a dent in your bank account, why not add to it?

With professional scrap vehicle removal, you can get cash for cars in Langley, Abbotsford, and Aldergrove. No matter the condition of the vehicle, our team is here to help make the process seamless and simple. During the scrap car removal process, our clients often ask us what they should do before we arrive. So, to simplify the process even further, here are 5 things you can do before scrapping your old vehicle:

1.    Remove All Personal Items

This is vitally important! Once your vehicle is scrapped, it’s gone for good. Therefore, it’s crucial that you take the time to go through each compartment to collect your personal items. And we mean everywhere! Check under the seats, between the arm rests, the backseat and trunk, behind the sunshade, the top of the dash, and in the glove box. Don’t leave a single place unchecked. Trust us, you’ll be grateful you did.

From important documents to pieces of memorabilia, nothing is worse than getting a call from a client asking if we can recover lost items. Sadly, there’s rarely anything we can do. So please, please, please check your car inside and out to make sure nothing of personal value is scrapped.

2.    Cancel Your Insurance Policy

Car insurance is expensive, especially in BC. To avoid paying for insurance you’re not using, ensure you cancel all policies to stop further payments. In the case where you’ve already paid for insurance you won’t be using, there is a chance you can be refunded this when you return your plates and cancel your plan. Speak with your insurance agent to find out what the best course of action is for your situation.

3.    Remove the License Plates

There’s no point keeping a licence plate on a scrapped car. All registered vehicles require a licence plate and registration; however, this cannot be transferred to another person. So, before your car is scrapped, remove the licence plate(s) from the vehicle to either be placed on another vehicle registered under your name or returned to your Autoplan broker. Once you cancel your insurance, you must return your plates; however, if your insurance plan has expired, you don’t need to return the plates.

4.    Get Your Documentation Ready

If you have documentation for your vehicle, you can have it ready for our arrival. Documents such as a valid title or car registration to show proof of ownership is always appreciated. However, we understand some of these older vehicles have been out of rotation for a while, and you may have misplaced these papers.

As an alternative, we can look at your driver’s licence. While we can proceed with your scrap car removal without a car title, we do require you have a valid BC driver’s license. Without this, we cannot remove your scrap vehicle in Langley or surrounding areas.

5.    Have Realistic Expectations for Price

At We Do Recover Towing, we want to give you the best price possible. Giving cash for junk cars is the highlight of our day, however, sometimes people are unaware of what their scrap car is realistically worth. It’s only natural to want the best possible price for your scrap vehicle and we want to offer that to you. But please keep in mind, a scrap car won’t be worth what it was in its heyday. To get a clear assessment of what your car is worth, provide us with the make, model, and condition of your vehicle before we come to collect it.
